چکیده
Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a chronic metabolic disease characterized by high blood sugar levels that exceed normal limits. The DM pathomechanism involves oxidative stress, which has the potential to cause damage cell components, including Deoxyribonucleic Acid (DNA). 8-hydroxy-deoxyguanosine (8-OhDG) most frequently detected DNA lesion. It water-soluble and excreted in urine. This study aimed compare urine 8-OhDG patients with controlled uncontrolled diabetes healthy controls aged 56-65 years. Analytical descriptive research cross-sectional design involved 80 participants determined purposive sampling. of were measured using Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) method. results showed (1.426±0.204ng/mL) higher than (1.372±0.190ng/mL), although not statistically significant. Urine 61-65 years (1.468±0.220ng/mL) 56-60 (1.394±0.190ng/mL), 8-Ohdg patient lower (1.282±0.131 ng/mL) (1.569±0.159 ng/mL), significantly different (p<0.05). produced body final product damage.

متن کاملOxidative damage to DNA during aging: 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine in rat organ DNA and urine.
Oxidative damage to DNA is shown to be extensive and could be a major cause of the physiological changes associated with aging and the degenerative diseases related to aging such as cancer. The oxidized nucleoside, 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine (oh8dG), one of the approximately 20 known oxidative DNA damage products, has been measured in DNA isolated from various organs of Fischer 344 rats of dif...
متن کاملUrinary 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine as a biological marker of in vivo oxidative DNA damage.
DNA is subject to constant oxidative damage from endogenous oxidants. The oxidized DNA is continuously repaired and the oxidized bases are excreted in the urine. A simple routine analytical procedure is described for urinary 8-hydroxy-2'-deoxyguanosine, an oxidative DNA damage adduct, as an indicator of oxidative damage in humans and rodents. This adduct was purified from human urine and charac...

Residual oil fly ash (ROFA) is a chemically complex mixture of compounds, including metals that are potentially carcinogenic because of their ability to cause oxidative injury. In this study, we investigated the association between exposure to particulate matter with an aerodynamic mass median diameter <or= 2.5 micro m (PM2.5) and oxidative DNA damage and repair, as indicated by urinary 8-hydro...
